Merry Christmas everybody and today I'm will review a book named Blaze of Glory it is the first book of the series The Laws of Magic it was published in 2006 and it receive a lot of positive review but sadly I will not.
The good
.I loved Caroline
.A lot of mysteries and adventure
The bad
.I didn't like Aubrey and George.
.The story was very slow.
.I don't want to know about this magic or that magic,I mean this is the first book
take it slow you don't see J K Rowling talks about Hocrux or the forbidden spell in the first book,It's okay if you write about it just don't overdo it.
Quick summary
Aubrey is an expert in magic.He always feel that people expect something from him because he is the son of an ex-prime minister.One day he foolishly use a magic that can make him die so he had to use spells to stop death getting near him.Aubrey and George(his best friend)went to a shooting party held by Prince Albert.There Aubrey meets Caroline..................................that's all for now.
The conclusion
Blaze of Glory is a slow paced book filled with magic information and alot of annoying character(My opinion only).I felt really dissapointed because my friend recommend it to me,he even says that it is one of his favourite book in a way it is quite a great book if you don't mind reading it slowly.

The Sorceress is a book written by Michael Scott.It is the third book of the series The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel.It was published on 2009.Like the Alchemyst and the magician it receive positive review.
The good
.I loved the chapters about Perenelle,it was absolutely hilarious

It gets a little repeatitive(They run away from Dee or something then they find an immortal or an Elder to help them,Sophie and Josh Learns something new,The Dark Elders tries to catch but fail,they flee to another country)

The magic thief is a very good book if you don't mind the annoying characters and some obvious plot but the illustration the secret code and thge diary make it a worthwhile book(I always like something extra I dont actually need it to enjoy a book but it doesn't hurt.It's not a forgettable book but not that much memorable

The Magician
The Magician is the second book of the series The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel This time they are in Paris the city where Nicholas was born. It was published on 2008 and like the first book it received many positive reviews.

.Like the first it is humourous and packed with adventures
.I really like the combination of Machiavelli and Dee(It was funny seeing them together)
The bad
.Mars died without any fighting scene while the legendary Nidhogg and the was pathetic.SPOILER ALERT (I mean the Nidhogg was defeated just like that I know it was stabbed by Clarent but still it was like the monster was nothing)

The Sword of Waters
The Sword of Waters is written by Hilari Bell.This is the second book of the series The shield,the sword and the crown.It was published on 2008.This time the main character is Arisa.
The good
.Like the first book I really loved the cover and the tarots card that represent each chapters.
.More adventure and mystery than the first book
The bad
.To me it was to short it could have told more on my opinion.
.Weasel appeared less which is dissapointing because my favourite character is weasel.
.While in a way the story improved and feels more adventurous it lacks some charm the first one gave me.

Arisa was bored since her mother the Falcon(a bandit)became the commander she had nothing to do,so her mother asked her to search for the Sword of Waters.Arisa also suspects her maid is in a group trying overthrow Justice Holis and her mother.So she tries to learn their secret by working for her ..................that's all for now

Sapphique
Sapphique is the second book of the Incarceron series which is written by Catherine Fisher it was published on the year 2008.
The good
.Like the first book I liked the sentences we were given before each chapter.
.In this book there's 4 main characters (which is good to me because I always liked story where there are more than 1 main characters)Finn,Claudia,Keiro and Attia
.This time it shows the inside of Incarceron more.
The bad
.How the queen died really dissapoint me
.Not as readible as the first one.

Finn keeps thinking about how he left Keiro and Attia in Incarceron and how he has to pretend to be the prince,Claudia keeps trying to help Finn remember about his past reclaim his right as the next king but when a imposter appears and pretends to be the prince Claudia and Finn is in big trouble.Keiro and Attia keeps trying to find away to get out of Incarceron when they find a magician who says he has Sapphique gloves they........................If you want to find out what happen read the book.

The Amber Spyglass is the third and final book of the series His Dark Materials series by Phllip Pullman.It was written in the year 2000 and it won the 2001 Whitbread book of the yeaar award.

.Some part were very Heart-warming(especially the ending)

.It was the weakest book of the series
.Some part were just boring(especially chapters about Mary)

Lyra was kidnapped by Mrs.Coulter.She hides Lyra in a cave because the Magisterium
wants to kill Lyra.Meanwhile two angels are bringing Will to Lord Asriel.Mary went to a world where there are creatures who called themselves Mulefa.She befriended them and learn their culture.Meanwhile Will met Lorek(the bear)and showed the Subtle Knife ability he cuts Lorek armour easily like you can cut a butter.....................that's it.

The Ruby Key
The Ruby Key is written by Holly Lisle in the year 2008.It is the first book of the two part series moon and sun.
The good
.The cover was nicely drawn
.The ending was suprising(in a good way)

.The story is just your average village is in danger a boy or girl travels to find something to save it.
.The character wasn't something new,I only liked the cat the others characters was just okay.
.There were four evil villains,the story had potential but sadly the story was just your normal average story.

Genna and Dan went to the wood at night (it is forbidden because along time ago te humans and nightling has made a vow not togo in each other time domain.the human goes out with the sun while the nightlig goes out with the moon )to get some medicine for their mother there they meet a nightling slave wo said that their villae is in danger because their village chief had made a deal with thhe nightling king Letrin to sacrifice them to make himself immortal Genna and Dan travelled to the nightling castle to make a bargain of theirow....................that's it for now.

Like I said beore it had potential 4 villains,a cat,a very culturize world where two type of creature an live for peace(until nw that is)it could have told more about Genna and Dan's father,the villains (beside Letrin), and about the old lady.I hope the second book will be better.

Echanted Glass is written by Diana Wynne Jones.(one of my favourite author)It was publhied on 2010 and Garth Nix gave a positive review for the book.

Mockingjay
I'm sorry I didn't write a post for some time,I tried to search the Mockingjay everywhere but most bookstore have already soldout.Mockingjay is the final book of the Hunger Games series it is written by Suzanne Collins.It was published on 24 Augut 2010.
The good
.Gale and Finnick appeared more this time.
.The ending was okay.(I hoped it will be better)
.I'm satisfied with who Katniss picks and why did she pick him.
The bad
.I hoped she could tell more about Johanna past.
.Suzanne Collins killed alot of character SPOILER(I mean characters like Enobaria survived while Finnick dies.
Quick summary
The Capitol had destoyed District 12 because of the rebel.The remaining people of district 12 had to stay at District 13.(actually District 13 is not destroyed and now they operate underground)Katniss emotion is unstable because she kept thinking how will president Snow torture Peeta.Coin(President of District 13) ask Katniss to be the Mockingjay to make the rebel more spirited,Katniss agreed onthe condition that she will be the one to kill president Snow.................That all for now.
The conclusion

Inkspell
Now you must be confused after reading this post's title since I just thougt that Inkheart was pleasent so why in the world did I read this book you may wonder,I guess I should blame it on my little brother he saw me reading the first book and thought I really enjoyed it so for a belated birthday present he gave me this book.Of course I politely accepted the book from him and I really hope he didn't see the regret of my smile on the time that I let him see what I was reading nonetheless I have the obligation to read for him and for this blog and here we are.Inkspell is a book written by Cornelia Funke and the sequel to Inkheart.It was published on the year 2005 and like the first book it recieve a lot of positive comments.

.I definitely felt that the story was superior than it's predecessor.

.My favourite character Elinor didn't appear very much

When I knew the second book wasn't titled Inkheart 2 The Adventure of Elinor I didn't have any great expectation but as I read the book I was genuinely suprised on the improvement from its predecessor.The story felt more alive.The characters also became more likable and I felt that they also had more depth.I thought that the author was smart giving more spotlight on characters like Farid,Basta and Fenoglio but sadly by doing that she sacrificed Elinor's scene which I definitely thought that maybe it would have been better if she sacrificed some not so interesting characters like Fenoglio.While the story had improved it still drag for too long for anyone to appreciate the story.Let's just hope that the author fixes that problem the third time around.While it still need a major improvement I really felt that it was a far more stronger book than I have expected.

Questors
Staying true to my habit of not reading a book that has already a huge fanbase I bought a book that seemed interesting yet I know that the probably isn't that famous.Questors is a book written by Joan Lennon(Yes if you google her name you will probably find more information of John Lennon instead.It was published on the year 2007.The story definitely had an interesting way of telling the story.
The High and Low
.There are three central characters each passing the spotlight every 5 to 6 chapters
.I really liked the characters they were fun and in some way original.
.Some part of the stories were preety predictable

Three heroes were picked to save all the worlds from the force of evil(there are 4 worlds in all) but when the danger was fast forward ten years they have no choice but to call these unready heroes.These heroes must save all the world even before they reach twenty years old and without the proper skill that the should have learned if all went smoothly.To top it of an evil mastermind had done something to each them so they are not perfect like the were supposed to be so with all odds stacked Cam,Bryn and Madlen have to search an object of power to hold the balance of the world in each on their own world(Three of them came from a different world but the three of them are brothers and sisters)..................................buy the book if you want or you can try to find it in your local library.

Truthfully I did enjoy my time reading Questors mainly because I felt that the author's style has a somewhat feeling to my favourite author Diana Wynne Jone.Questors is really a fun book to read it has its fair share of humour and adventure.The book also had great cast of fun and likable characters even though they're aren't as witty or likable as Diana Wynne Jones characters.While the story was solid it lacked any suprise or originality(Of course it's hard to make an original story but sometimes even with the most used idea can be great by an excellent author)The story was defintely told by an interesting way there(there are three main characters they all appear at the same time but on each of their own woirld we read on a different perspective but sadly the story also leck the depth that most of Diana's book had.While I have to say that this isn't the best fantasy book recently I am still excited on what Joan Lennon can bring next time.

Catching Fire
Well readers have you done reading The Hunger Games,if not I do recommend you to read it before you finish reading this review because this is the second book of the series and it may contain spoilers.Catching Fire is the second book in The Hunger Games series and of course the book is written by Suzanne Collins. The book was published on the year 2009.Like the first book it also recieve a lot of positive review and it also became a best seller for one time

Catching Fire is definitely a great sequel to the Hunger Games.While the story did start late meaning the battle started when the book already reached more than half of it's content and by doing that the author made the first part of the story dull and the second part of the story a little bit rushed.Luckily the story was still interesting as the first book especially the chapter that showed on how Haymitch won his Quarter Quell so readers might forgive her for doing that.The characters also shone more than the first book this time characters like Haymitch and Gale had more appearence and it also had a couple of new characters like Finnick,Wiress,Beetee,Mags,Chaff,Brutus and Johana(Johana is definitely my favourite from the list of these new characters) While the book may not have reached the same level as the first book it is still a very enjoyable book.

Incarceron
Incarceron is a book written by Catherine Fisher.Some of you may know her from her Oracle triologies.The book was publised on the year 2007 in the United King and it finally reached the united States in the year of 2010.It became one of New York children bestseller for some time.It recieve a lot of positive reviews praising on it's imaginative story and detail.
The High and Low
.I thought that the author had definitely smart when she decided to focus on two characters switching their focus from chapter to chapter athing that I thought should have been use in the Hunger Games.
.Incarceron is well explained and full of details that never made me bored like in Dragonhaven
.I loved on how the author put a an exercpt on each chapter.Yes Cornelia Funke did this too on Inkheart but these excerpt are original not taken from a book but created from her story for her story.
The bad
.While some critics praised it's ending I felt that the ending was a little bit predictable.

There are two main characters in the one is Finn and the other one is Claudia.Finn is stuck in Incarceron(a big prison)and he thinks he's from the outside so he tried to escape from the prison with help from Keiro(his oath brother)Atiia and Gildas.While Claudia is from the outside she has no freedom she is the daughter of the warden(the warden is the one who look after the prison)and she has to marry a very spoiled prince so these two people try to find their freedom.As Finn and his companions travel deeper to find a way out the incarceron kept trying to stop them(the prison is somewhat alive) while Claudia and her instructor Jared tried to..............................................End of summary

Incarceron is a great book to read.The story was told by the perspective of two great characters who seemed to have more in common than they thought contented for example it shows that Finn struggles to remember who he was and hope to live an easy live with no worry about money or time while Claudia determination to end the protocol will probably strip all her richness and lifestyle away as she only wants freedom.Yes they both felt trapped and wished that they could be free while perhaps you may think that Claudia's life may be the lesser of two evil yet in the truth she has less freedom than Finn.With the perspective of these characters you may find it a little refreshing because both characters had a somewhat different theme so when we read thechapters where it had Finn as the main characters you may find the story more on the adventurous type of book while Claudia's story had more humour and a bit fairy tale style in it.While the ending did struck a sour note for it's ending which I felt a disappointment.Both stories were very good,the combination was nice and I will definitely say that Incarceron is a very worthwhile book to read.

Hunger Games
Finally I decided to buy the Hunger Games after a lot of consideration since normally I tried to stay away from books who started growing a large fanbase and by looking at the book recommendation from Yahoo Answers I could definitely see its growing fanbase but I knew that since I'm trying to be a good reviewer I should try reading this book and here we are.Hunger Games is a book that was written by Suzanne Collins. It recieve a lot of positive review some of them were even by Stephen King and Stephenie Meyer.It was published on 2008 and became a besteller.
The High and Low
.The story was superbly told.
.The main characters were amazing.

The bad
.I think that the author should have made some supporting characters like Thresh or Foxface more fleshed out.

The story is set in the future in a country called Panem.Every year the capitol will randomly choose 1 boy and 1 girl from all 12 district to fight until there are only 1 left to show their punishment for trying to rebel in the past.Katniss Everdeen volunteered herself(because her little sister was chosen)and a boy named Peeta Mellark(they are from district 12) they were quickly taken from crowd and into a house where the capitol allowed one hour for them so that their family and friends could at least see them one more time there she was visited by her sister,her mom,Madge(her friend),Gale(her best friend) and Peeta Mellark's dad who was a baker where she usually sells her squirell to.After their meeting they are taken to the train and that's is where they meet their mentor Haymitch he was the only previous winner from district 12 that is still alive so he will be the one mentoring them on how to survive but the drawback is that he seemed for interested in drinking than to help them to survive.............. I dont want to tell any spoiler so that's the end of the summary.
The conclusion
Hunger Games is a book that is definitely getting it's momentum.I can already imagine this book as a hit and it is probably going to get a movie.While I do try to avoid this kind of book,normally I would only read books like this just before watching the movie since I'm trying to avoid the longness to watch the movie if the book is really good.Truthfully Hunger Games is a great book to read.The story was well told,The story had little bit of dark tone that you could really going to feel the story really well.I was also amazed with the major characters,the author knew what were she going to do with them,she gave me a way to sympathize with them even Cato who showed that his action was based on the Capitol's fault.The cover was really nice I had a choice between a picture of Katniss or Peeta(I bought the one with the picture of Peeta)I was quite dissapointed with on how she didn't explore more on some minor characters but perhaps the point was knowing that they were supposed to kill each other even when they didn't know who was who to survive and maybe she didn't show the other district's contestant so much because the author was showing a custom in their world where nobody from the capitol actually cared for anyone in the games or maybe she just thought it wasn't that important(which actually is0.Hunger Games is definitely a great book that I would gladly recommend it to almost everybody.

Dragonhaven
Have you ever read a book by the author Robin McKinley.Truthfully I have never read any of her books but since I'm a book critic(A bad one)now I decided I should give one of her book a try.Dragonhaven is a book written by Robin McKinley and it was published in 2007,it receive a lot of positive reviews.
The High and Low
.The author clearly knows her dragon facts as she explains interestingly about the dragon world,sometimes even I wonder that if she actually lived in that world
.Jake's eagerness to protect the dragon is heartwarming and feels fresh.Of course there are lots of story that shows the bond between a boy and his pet\friend but I probably felt that this book had something fresh because the relationship between Jake and his dragon are more like a dad and son instead of brothers or friends.
.Some times the story took its time on details that it just go straight to the point of boring(Yes sometimes I do feel like being thought in Robin McKinley's Dragon class)

I've got to say that sadly Dragonhaven is a not so enjoyable book and I had a high expectation since Diana Wynne Jones liked it(My favourite author).The author definitely knows her humour and she aslo told a good story about "animal's right",friendship and parenting but sadlyit is not much of an adventure book so by that it made the story a little bit duller.The story is told in great detail and full of explanation that sometimes you swear that you feel that you're like in a biology class.I mean reading 80 pages of dragon details can be a little boring.don't misunderstand me the details on dragon and the other animals is a good thing(I guess) but sometimes it's just too much. This book is definitely for dragons fans who craves for a dragon story that is full of detail and depth but for other readers I think you can find another book instead.

The Graveyard Book
This week I read a book which I heard recieve a lot of good reviews. The book is called The Graveyard Book it is written by Neil Gaiman and it was published in they year 2008 .It won numerous award like The Carnegie Medal or Hugo Award for best Novel.But once again I'm wondering that did it really deserve all that praise and awards.

The story is about a boy named Nobody Owens whose family had been killed by an assasin ,after that two ghost found him and adopted him as their son.Each chapter tells about Bod's adventure as the story progress Bod grows up.(I personally like the chapter which Miss Lepescu babysit him and the chapter where he went to school)..............If I say more than that I will probably ruin it for you and truthfully I'm not actually sure on how to tell you.
The conclusion
I was definitely disappointed by the book,I mean everyone said it was such a great book I was thrilled when I first bought the book but when I read it I found myself pretty dissapointed.Sure Neil Gaiman writes flawlessly for this book but what's the use when the story are so dull and bland that you simply don't care.None of the characters seemed to flesh out I never felt any character development but luckily I liked how the author presented the story.The book was supposed to be dark,adventurous and a self finding type of book but it never reached to the level I hoped.Neil Gaiman was definitely smart when he asked Chris Riddel(Probably one of the best book illustrator nowdays)to illlustrate the book for him.I know that everybody loved this book and I do respect your own opinion but I'm sorry to say that this isn't my cup of tea.

Inkheart
I know I'm a little bit slow on writing these reviews but just bear with me.I didn't have a lot of free time to read the book and I'm reading a very thick book called Inkheart.Inkheart is a book written by Cornelia Funke and it was published in 2003.The book receive positve reviews from critics and writers.I'm still confused on why though.
The High and Low
.Eleanor is simply echanting
.The story feels grounded even with it's fantasy stories
.The story drags for too long
.Some characters didn't flesh out(I mean she could told more about Fenoglio,Farid or Darius).

Mortimer Folchart or Mo(Meggie calls her father that) is a bookbinder and he has the power to read things out of a book ( he cannot control what goes out or what dissappears). One day when he was reading a book called Inkheart Resa (his wife) got sucked in the book and 3 characters from the book got out.Capicorn,Basta,and Dustfinger he also read out Dustfinger per marten Gwin). 9 years had passed and now Meggie is 12 years old (she was 3 when it happened) One night Dust fingercame their house and warned Mo about Capicorn (of course Maggie was curious about DustFinger But since Mo didn't tell her anything about it so she didn't ask her father.After a couple of days Mo planned to stay at his aunt house to bind her books he says to Maggie but obviously Maggie suspect it something else. When...If you want to know what happen next you have to buy the book.
The Conclusion
Just so you know Inkheart isn't a bad book but it is definitely over hyped.The story was definitely well told, somepart of the story could have went to the cliche road but Cornelia Funke skillfully writes her way out but by doing that she drags the story too long that nobody actually cares.I mean some chapters felt pointless and I have to hope that there will be Elinor in the chapter to lighten things up but sadly Elinor was underplayed.The book did have it's momentum but it definitely gets bog down by the slow pacing.The ending was expected but it makes readers want to read the sequel I wouldn't mind reading the sequel but I really hope that the book is called Inkheart 2:The adventures of Elinor.Seriously if she was the main character I'm sure that everything would turn up alright.

The Golden Compass
The Golden Compass sometimes known as The Northern Light is a book written by Phillip Pullman.It was published in 1995 and it is the first book of the series His Dark Materials series it receive critical acclaim but some criticize the book for the potrayal of the church and the religion.

Lyra is a girl who lives at Jordan College,she likes to explore the college with her daemon Pantalaimon and Roger (the kitchenboy at Jordan college).One day when she snuck in the meeting room and heard they were going to kill his uncle, she quickly warned his uncle. Starting from there her life will change, around thaat time she heard a group of kidnappers named the Gobblers starting to kidnap kids around her. When she heard Roger was kidnapped she decided to travel to find him. Lyra uses the golden compass (which was given to her by the master of Jordan Coleege) to find Roger.........(If you want to know what happen next just read the book).
The Conclusion
Truthfully The Golden Compass isn't what you call a must read book but it defintely is a good book.Actually my father had the book for about 3 years but I never felt like reading it probably because of the hideous cover and the movie(Wasn't really that good)but last week I didn't have anything new to read and I was short on cash so I decided to read it and I guess this is why people always say that we must not judge a book by it's cover(I still will) but actually the publisher could have made a better cover.The story and the character was interesting especially Lyra,she is so spunky and energetic that you are simply enamored by her.The book had a pretty slow start but as the story goes on it definitely turn up on it's pace.The Golden Compass may not me the most interesting book but it is definitely a good book to read for any readers who enjoy a good fantasy.
