The Pinhoe Egg

I'm sorry but once again I decided to read a book I already owned byt don't worry I haven't posted my review for it yet.The Pinhoe Egg is a book written 2006.It was written by the late Diana Wynne Jones and it is a book from the Chrestomanci series and a continuation from Charmed Life.It is the last book she wrote for the Chrestomanci series.

The High and Low
.The story is as interesting as ever.
.The characters were charming.
.Really loved the cover.

.Some characters were underused.

Quick Summary
Cat was just sitting there when he heard Janet and Julia talking about horses.Julia asked Janet to ask her father for horses because she felt that Chrestomanci will be more lenient on her because what happended to her.Chrestomanci agreed to buy a horse for them eventhough he's not fond of the idea. After a series of situation Cat ended up owning the horse.chrestomanci asked him to care for the horse properly meaning no magic.Marianne(The second protagonist of the story)needs to take care of Gammer's Cat(Gammer is the title given to the woman's chief)because Gammer is not in a stable condition and the other villagers want her to move with one of them so it would be more easier to look after her.Because of this Gammer's house is now unoccupied and they decided to sell to someone(to a Pinhoe to be exact)you see all of the villagers use magic as they please so they try to hide their action from Chrestomanci fearing he would stop them from using their magic................................................................That's all I'm going to write

The Conclusion
I already said this and I'm going to say it again,Diana Wynne Jones is one of the best fantasy ever lived. This may not be her strongest book but she rarely dissapoints me.Diana Wynne Jones had a knack of making charming characters. Most of them are full of life relatable and almost never annoying.Charmed Life was written in 1977 and this book was published almost 30 years later but Jones still managed to capture the essence the first book had.The book also had a great cover, always a good thing in my opinion. My biggest complain was how Jones didn't use musch of her suppoting characters I would love to read more about Millie,Joe and especially Janet she was basically non existance in this book.I would had really loved to see her interact with cat more like she did on the first book. This book was the last of the Chrestomanci series and it is the seconnd book to future Cat and I really glad that Jones managed to make this book great.

A Series Of Unfortunate Events:The Reptile Room

Yes I'm being a cheapskate once again and decided to rummage my little brother's closet.Since he dooesn't mind me reading any of his book I decided to read A Series Of Unfortunate Events:The Reptile Rool.It is the second book of the thirteenth part series. It is written by Lemony Snicket in the year 1999.He once again asked us to read a book which will be more cheerful.

The High and Low
.The story and characters are charming
.Nice Illustration

.I felt that this book was somewhat inferior to the first book.
.I also felt that the book was too similiar to the first one

Quick Summary
The three children now live with a relative of their called Uncle Monty he is a kind man and he is excited  that the children is staying with him.The Baudelaires are excited because they're going to an expidition next week they thought that it was the end of their very bad luck but they were wrong.Uncle Monty hired a new assistant after his previous one left and this assistant was none other than Count Olaf who is wearing a disguise. He threathens them not to tell Uncle Monty about his identity. The Baudelaires felt curious on why was he even here.He doesn't even have a right to any of them anymore he couldn't take their fortune even if he wanted to but the children still felt suspicious and decided to report to uncle Monty when Count Olaf was busy.Unfortunately Uncle Monty doesn't believe them and thought that his assistant was a spy who wanted to steal a snake that he just discovered a while a go to...........................................That's all I can say.

The Conclusion
I felt somewhat dissapointed after reading this book.Truthfully I was looking forward on reading this book as I felt the first book was relatively depressing yet it managed to show it's charming side as well.As I read on this I still managed to find those essence in this book but it felt inferior to the first book. The Baudelaires is as charming as ever but I felt other character lacked something I really liked Count Olaf in the first book but I couldn't like him as much in this book.I also felt that the story was a tad too similiar to the first one.actually there is nothing wrong with a book being similiar to its predecessor but this time the other characters was lacking the story was less adventurous.I'm a bit worry about what is going to happen in the other books, will it be similiar to the first two books if yes I'm not sure whether I'm going to continue reading this series.I will probably give the third book a chance in the not so near future. While this book failed to captivate me, fans or a slightly more younger reader than me probably wouldn't mind reading this book and would think that I'm crazy for hating this book.

The Assassin's Curse/暗殺者の呪い

Now you are probably suprised on why is there some Japanese Letters on the title. You see I've been learning Japanese for a while now and an "acquaintance" of my friend keeps stressing me on how I should practice my Japanese more often by chatting to someone in the internet so I decided from now on I'm just going to write my review in both english and japanese. However because my Japanese isn't that good I will probably try to simplify it as much as possible for now and just saying I can't actually read or write Kanji that well I probably can recognize the most basic Kanji so I'm probably going to use a Kanji Transalator in my post.I'm just telling you this because sometimes the transalator isn't that good and makes mistake so I'm just telling you that you may find some errors on my post. Now I'm already getting a headache on thinking on how willl I transalate my post from now own I will start writing the Japanese version of my post on January.I read a book called The Assassin's Curse last week.It was written by Cassandra Rose Clark. It was published in 2012 and it is the first boom of the series.

The High and Low
.The book had a gorgeus cover
.The characters were great
.The story was told brilliantly and it felt refrshing

.The book was too short

Quick Summary
Ananna of The Tanarau is forced to flee after her parents decided that she will marry Tarrin to ally with another pirate clan. While he is a very handsome man she just can't marry someone like that and decided to flee when he wasn't looking but by doing this she has angered Tarrin's Parents and the decided to send an assssin's after her.Knowing her life is in grave danger she asked for a strange woman's help who gave her a spell to send the assassin to another place where he will never disturb her again.Somehow the spell didn't work and she is forced to defend her life using a knife. When the were fighting she saw a snake coming closer to the assassin without any further thought she killed the snake and because of that she activated a curse that binded them together now he has to protect her from danger while looking for a cure for this curse.........................That 's all I should say because this book is rather short and I don't want to spoil anything

The Conclusion
Actually I bought this book because it had a promotion and not to mention it's gorgeus cover. While a lot of people would argue about that I simply can't resist a good looking cover like this.Ananna and Naji are both great characters they managed to show me that not all Young Adult characters are the same yes while i did praise characters from books like Unspoken,I still felt like the characters lack something. The biggest suprise for me was the story. The author really suprised me sometimes I felt like I was reading a Diana Wynne Jones novel because of it's wit and the characters charm. As you open the book Ananna mentions something that a lot of young adult heroine should have known and the line was "I ain't never been one to trust beautiful people"imagine if all of those heroine followed this line wouldn't it make their life a whole lot easier.Ananna and Naji does have something going on between them but it light and their relationship doesn't actually go anywhere by the end of this book and thank goodness for that.I always felt that the characters from a lot of books were rushed and I don't mind for the characters to take their time at least for the first two books.I forgot to mention that I felt the book was too short because on back cover it had a sypnosis and while it did deliver on what it had said it only gave us a preview on what to come,I don't actually mind the length though because sometimes a good book can really turn sour if it goes on too long.(You will probably understand what I'm saying if you read the book)The Assassin's Curse is probably the best book I read this year and it probably is one of the best young adult book written this year.

How To Ditch Your Fairy

Hello readers, once again I apologize for my late post.I'm trying to post it as fast as I could(Okay maybe I didn't try to hard)anyway this week I read How To Ditch Your Fairy by Justine Larbalestier. It is not a book that I would normally read but Justine Larbalestier and Sarah Rees Brennan(The Demon's Lexicon series) collaborated on a book so I decided to read one of Justine Larbalestier's work first before reading that book. This book was publishe in the year 2008 and it is a just a standalone.(Rarely do I have the chance to say that)

The High and The Low
.I really like Fiorenza and Stefan
.The story had a somewhat interesting concept

.I didn't like the ending
.The story was lacking in detail and depth

Quick Summary
In this world almost everyone has fairies. They give the person a certain luck or special ability like the parking fairy which will make that everytime you want to park somewhere there will be a parking spot for you. While a lot of people might enjoy this fairy Charlie does not.She hates cars and she hates that everyone keeps dragging her around so that they would have a great parking spot. She decided to not ride a car anymore until her fairy is gone so by doing that she gets into a lot of trouble because she keeps arriving late at school.Charlie likes the new boy Stefan and while Stefan seems to like Charlie too it seems that their relationship will not work because of Fiorenza. She has the All Boys Will Like You Fairy and every time she's int the picture all boys including Stefan can't help but to adore her.Charlie also has trouble with a boy named Andrews who keeps forcing Charlie to enter his car so he will get a great parking space............................That's all I guess

The Conclusion
I'm sorry to say but I was quite dissapointed by this book I really did try to like it but the book simply didn't live up to my expactation. The story did had an interesting concept but it never fully explored on what it could have been.I also felt that the story lack detail the author should  take a lesson from Robin McKinley. While normally I don't mind if books lacked detail I found out that the book could have gone so much better if it was more descriptive and the story also lack depth while I know the author probably wrote this book for young teenage girls it doesn't give her the excuse to write a good set of characters.I mean look at Marilyn Kaye while her story wasn't all that great her characters had more depth I could feel them. While this book only suppllied with empty named shells(Especially you Heather and Sandra) I also hated the ending it was simply too vague while some books are better left like that this book was not one of them I mean and it is pretty Ironic considering the advice Charlie gave to Tamsin.I also hated Charlie because I felt that she didn't learn a single thing from all of this. The saving grace of this book was its humour and Fiorenza.Fiorenza was the only character who had depth(Still lacking though)she also understood on what I hoped Charlie learn from this experience .After reading i'm wondering on what will happen to that book she's writing together with Sarah Rees Brennan.I'm just hoping that Sarah Rees Brennan is the one who makes the character.

Castle In The Air

As you know I have been very tight with my money lately and I've been trying to minimize my spending by borrowing books from my little brother and sister(there are no library around my house)Sadly the've been quite cross with me because I have been rummaging through their shelf for two month so they've decided to ban me from reading their book for a whole month.Since I did not have a new book I decided to reread a book I had not read for more than 3 years..The book was Castle In The Air.It is a book written by my favourite author Diana Wynne Jones. It is the second book of the series. The first one was Howl's Moving Castle. One of my favourite book,I've wrote my review for it about one and a half year ago(for my first year celebration)Anyway this book is published in the year !990,four years after the first one was published.

The High and Low
.The story has a great theme(One Thousand and One Night)
.The characters are great as always

.The story felt a little bit inferior to its predecessor

Quick Summary\
This story tells a story at a country far away from Ingrary.Abdullah is a carpet merchant(A quite succesful one)he works all day trying to make a living and trying to avoid his hateful relatives who has always been dissapointed on him.Oneday he acquired a magic carpet that could fly from a mysterious stranger. On that night while he was sleeping(He was sleeping on the magic carpet for fearing the carpet would fly to it's previous owner when he is sleeping)the carpet send him to a castle. There he meets a princess named Flower In The Night. At first she mistakes him as a girl because she has never seen another man besides her father and he was wearing long clothes and a turban not to mention it was very dark.Anyway they had a little talk.Flower In The Night has never seen another man besides her father and Abdullah but she is going to be wed very soon but because she doesn't know much about men she flt really anxious.Abdullah decided that he will come here again tomorrow and bring her pictures of men from around the world.......................That's all I'm going to tell.

The Conclusion
Diana Wynne Jones is one of the best fantasy author and here she proves yet again that she is not giving that title to anyone(I'm sorry J K Rowling). The story has a great theme which is A thousand and one night. As a fantasy lover I have always loved reading it and here Diana Wynne Jones do justice to its theme. The story was fun, humourous and imaginative and the characters are great(Diana Wynne Jones has a knack of making amazing characters)The only thing that I might complain was the story felt somewhat inferior to Howl's Moving Castle.Don't get me wrong Castle In Sky is amazing but to me Howl's Moving Castle is one of the best book ever read so of course Castle In The Sky couldn't match up to it.To tell you the truth I felt quite sad writing this review.I simply couldn't use past tense when I was talking about Diana wynne Jones. She was definitely a great fantasy author but the sad thing was she never received the fame or credit like her peers did. Here is my last thanks to a wonderful author who let me know how wonderful it is to read a book.
Thank You Diana Wynne Jones,we will cherish your books forever.

Unbroken

Hello dear reader as you know lately I have been reading books that are more suitable for young teens/kids but just like I promised last week I read a book leaning toward the young adult section. You may remember that I wrote that I felt tired of young adults book and I wanted to take a break from them unless I found a book that I really wanted to read.Unbroken is written by Sarah Rees Brennan. The author of The Demon's Lexicon series you may remember that I was a fan of her for that series,I even gave the Demon's Covenant a full rating so naturally I felt excited on getting this book.As you already know this book is written by Sarah Rees Brennan and it was published in 2012.Let see if this book will get the same response as the Demon's Lexicon series

The High and Low
.Great characters especially Kami, she reminded me of Mae(A character in The Demon's Lexicon series and If you still remember my review you should know on how much I adored her character)
.Great story concept far more interesting than any of young adult books I have read for a while
.Great cover

.The story started pretty slow
.The book felt to similiar to The demon's Lexicon series

Quick Summary
Kami is a girl who have an imaginary friend and while you may think it's fine for children what is your opinion if you know she is a full grown teenager.Kami a journalist wannabe and her friend the beautiful yet lazy Angela decided to make a newspaper for the school. She decided to investagate about the Lynburn(a family that used to live here and now they're back and weirdly a lot of people seemed to be afraid of them)After a while she managed to meet both Ash and Jared Lynburn(they are cousins)to her suprise Jared is actually her "Imaginary friend"At first both of them freaks out but after a while they decide to investagate on why they have this connection............................................................That's all for now sorry.

The Conclusion
Unspoken is really an entertaining book.Sarah Rees Brenna once again succeeded on making a great mysterious dark fantasy with a great sense of humour not to mention it's great cast of characters. The characters was simply one of the best aspect of the story.Kami really reminded me of Mae(Mae still wins)and most of the supporting characters are simply wonderful(Specifically Lillian and Holly)The story also had a great concept. While it isn't exactly the most original great authors know how to make something feel fresh eventhough it's the most used theme of the century and here is just what she did.The cover was also nice. The only thing was the story started pretty slow while The Demon's Lexicon series gained it's momentum quickly this book is a somewhat late bloomer and I also felt that the book was too similiar to The Demon's Lexicon series while I really liked that series I would like the author to step out of her comfort zone and shows what she can really do.Unspoken is certainly a great way to start what I'm hoping to be better than the Demon's Lexicon series.

Beyond The Spiderwick:The Wyrm King

Happy Halloween dear readers It's not like I'm doing anything I just thught that I should at least make this introduction a little bit longer than it was supposed to be.Anyway this week I read the third book and the finale of Beyond The Spiderwick series. It is written by Holly Black and Tony Diterlizzi and was published in the year of 2009

The High and Low
.The book focuses more on the characters than the first two books
.The story feels more compact

.The authors should have made the divorce a bigger issue

Quick Summary
Nick's father and Charlene is on the verge of diorcing. To talk things out they decided to see a counselor.Unfortunately it gets worse.Nick,Jules,Laurie,Jared,Simon and Mallory are trying to find out the thing that the giants were supposed to destroyed with no avail until the find out that large sinkholes keep appering around the city.Nick gets suspicious and decided to investagate.Nick who remembered that Jack left something for him so he decided to go to the back of his house there he found Taloa in Jack's Kiddie pool with two of her sister.Taloa asked Nick to take her .........................................That's all I'm going to say.

The Conclusion
Truthfully I somewhat enjoyed this book more than its predecessor. The book managed to show Nick,Laurie and Jules while showing Jared,Simon and Mallory enough. This is a very short book but it managed to control the characters to appear impotant while not overshadowing Nick. The story also felt more compact. The story had more range to show.Nick showed more of his expressions. The story gave a story that are far more adventurous and entertainig that i had expected the only thing that I wanted to complain was on how little did Nick's Father and Charlene played a part in the story.I just thought that they should hae been more important.

Igraine The Brave

Yes I'm still reading children books. If you're wondering when will I start reading young adult book I can assure you that I will give a review for a young adult book in two weeks I've been searching for this book for quite awhile and luckily last week managed to find it but unfortunately i have to wait two more weeks until I can get the money so please bear with me.This week I decided to rampage my little sister's shelf once again.I found this book on the corner of the shelves which she usually puts books that she is going to throw away.Of  course I was not going to let her throw the book away and finally here we are.Igraine The Brave is a book written by Cornelia Funke(The author of Inkworld triology). It was published in 2007.,

The High and Low
.Great Illustration

.The story was simply too bland

Quick Summary
Igraine always dreamt on becoming a real knight. She hopes on fighting dragons, saving people and having adventures. On her birthday her parents decided to make an armor for her as a birthday present. Unfortunately they made a little mistake and accidentally turned themselves into pigs.At the same tie an evil wizard named Osmund the Greedy is trying to take take the singing books(One of the reasons on why Igraine parents are so powerful)Igraine is forced to go searchfor a giant hair before it's too late.......................That's all I can tell.

The Conclusion
As you know I wasn't that fond of the Inkworld triology series. It was solid but that's it.If you still remember the aspect that I praised most is the character especially Elinor.Igraine The Brave is simply too bland. The story is simply undistinguished, the characters were likable but the author never made the characters more special but then again the only special character in Inkworld triology was Elinor.I know I'm being quite hard here but truthfully In time like this kids don't like to read books anymore say if a kid decided to give this hobby a chance and pick this book do you think that the kid will come back for seconds.I know that every person has their opinion but to me I simply feel that the author simply failed to make the story interesing and charming.

A Series Of Unfortunate Events:The Bad Beginning

Yes lately I have been reading simple/kids book with the exception of last week.Actually I felt tired on how generic the young adult section had become.Almost every book is a mirror between Twilight,Hunger Games or The Mortal Instruments series.Yes most of them are at least decent but you can seriously get tired of it so you may find me either reading Adult or Semi Children book for a while unless I find great Young Adult book that is.Oh have you all read The Casual Vacancy by J K Rowling I actually bought the book on the first day but since some critics didn't like it too much i decided to read other book first If you have read the book I would appreciate your comment on the book.Enough about me and let us continueA Series Of Unfortunate Events:The Bad Beginning is a book written by Lemony Snicket. It is the first book of the 13 part series.

The High and Low
.The book has great interesting details
.The characters are likable

.The story seems to be somewhat undistinguished(You will undestand on why I used undistinguished if you read the book)

Quick summary
The story tells a sad tale about the misfortune of three kids named Violet,Klaus and Sunny. They are three kind, smart and especially resourceful kids who lived in a mansion with their loving parents. One day their hoouse were burnt and their parets died because of the tragic incident.According to their parents will they were supposed to live with their closest relatives until Violet turns 18 and can use their parents. After a while Mr Poe(a friend of their parents0found out that a man named Count Olaf lived not to far from their home and he was supposed to be a far away cousins of their parents so ofcourse the children had to stay with him.The children tried to do their best living in Count Olaf's house but he was simply too cruel to them.Letting them stay in a dirty room with a spoiled mattress.he also gave them unreasonable chores.the only bright thing they could find was Count Olaf kind neighbour Justice Strauss....................................That's all for now

The conclusion
Truthfully this isn't my book. This book actually belongs to my little brother's friend who accidentally left it there while playing with my brother and since you know that recently I have been saving money I decided to read it and yes I did get his permission.Anyway I found the book to be simply charming with it's narrative story and quirky character.Yes I even liked Count Olaf. The author's narrative story proved to be fresh and delightful.Unfortunately the story was simply unmemorable compared to the greatness of its narration and character.Truthfully I would have to say that this book is pretty depressing but then again maybe that is the reason that made the book so relatable.

Behind the Beautiful Forever

After a couple of month finally my next review for a more adult theme book is out.Actually I do want to apologize for not reading any adult theme book sooner since I couldn't find any interesting ones until my father decided to give me a book for my birthday.I'm not complaining since I'm still short on cash..Anyway the book tells about real people who lives at Annawadi.the book is written by Katherine Boo and it was published in 2012.

The High and Low
.The story is excellently told.

The characters were uneven

Quick Summary
The story is told from a lot of perspectives but the story is mostly told by four person.Abdul,a young scavenger who works hard to feed his family since his father is not healthy and most of his brother and sister are too young.Asha,a woman who tries to succeed  by trying to go into politics regardless the sacrifices she has to make.Manju,She works as a part time teacher at a local school and she is also the only girl in Annawadi to ever go to a college(Thanks to her mom Asha)and Sunil,a young boy who is not sure on what to become. The story tells their success,(mostly)failure, joy and (mostly)sadness.

The Conclusion
I was pleasently suprised on how good the story was.The story was excellently told, great details on Annawadi and the life at a slum.Sad and sweet at he sametime not to mention a nice ending. The only thing that bothered me was it's uneven character, meaning that the characters are likable at one time and suddenly they were hateful but then again this book is based on a true story so ofcourse there are going to be great and awful moments for these characters.Anyway the author manages to write a sad yet touching story that captures the essence of hoping for a better life.

Beyond The Spiderwick Chronicles:A Giant Problem

Firstly I'm going to say that I'm sorry to all of you for not writing my post earlier.Recently I 've been on a budget so unfortunately last week I didn't have enough money to buy a book and no the local library do not have any interesting books. My friends do read books but sadly they read what I read(Most of them read a book one a month so they normally ask me on what they should read)so finally I decided to raid my little sister's closet.Luckily she was kind enough to lend me a book which was Beyond The Spiderwick Chronicles:A Giant Problem. If you remember I have read the first book for my children's book month on May.Well as you may know the book has two authors Holly Black and Tony DiTerlizziand it was publised on the year 2009.

The High and Low
.Absolutely gorgeus illustrations.
.Characters like Jules and Cindy has more role to play this time around

.The story was simply too bland.

Quick Summary
Nick and Laurie started going to a class on how to kill giants teached by Jack. While Nick was insanely bored and depressed Laurie was as giddy as a girl just being invited by the senior and hot jock(sorry for the weird comaparison)Aftera while they found a fairie that was playing with a message left by Taloa saying that she was going to find her sister by herself.Laurie decided to keep the faerie(she thinks it a hobgoblin)and named it Sandspur after they returned home they say two giants who were fighting each other trashing everything around them Nick,Laurie and Jules quick get out of the house..........................That's all I can say since this book is pretty short.

The Conclusion
I have to say that as a reader I am dissapointed with this book. The story was simply too bland, there was never any memorable or interesting chapter that I can name and when you're a book about Magic and Faeries and does not have any interesting story or atleast a great character you have almost nothing.luckily the character was fine(not great just fine)giving characters like Jules and Cindy more highlight does make the story a little bit interesting and truthfully I did feel that Cindy and Jules managed to compliment Nick's and Laurie's character.Ofcourse it does help to have great illustration which made the story more livelier that it was supposed to be.While I do think that the author could have done better but I can't complain that much because at least they did put effort on the illustartions so I guess I just have to be satisfied with this.

Gifted:Speak No Evil

Well Hello readers I'm sorry if you feel that this is the only thing that I had read recently.Recently I have been quite busy so I only had time to read shor books but please don't worry since there are no Gifted Book 7 out in the market right now so if you're sick reading my reviews on the series you will probably be overjoyed.Anyway this is the 6th book of the series and of course it is written by Marilyn Kaye and it was published in 2010.I was shocked when I found out that the book was published in 2010.I mean the authour did not release a new book in 2011 and the year 2012 is almost over.Probably the author decided to quit on the series because it lacked popularity or slow sales.

High and Low
.The story finally reveals the backstory of the mysterious giftes students Carter
.The story focuses less on the epicness and more and the storytelling

.The book is simply too short
.I really hope that the author would expand the role for Cooper and Martin

Quick summary
Carter is now in the care of Doctor Paley. The doctor tried to hypnotize Carter so thet Carter can remember his past.Carter finally remembers who he was and realized what was is his gift.Amanda and Ken wants to be normal so when Doctor Paley announced to them that it is possible to get rid of their gift they felt somewhat happy. When Amanda managed to save a hitchiker from trouble and Ken managed to locate a bomb in the building the felt hesistant about throwing their gifts away  when they could help people with their gift...............................That's all I guess.

The conclusion
As some of you might have guess, whenever Amanda is one of the book's lead i'm going to give it a better review than Jenna's.Truthfully speaking this is probably the best book since the second one not only we get to learn about Carter mysterious past it also focuses on a simple good story than an bad "epic or adventurous" story. You might think I'm being a little bit biass since Amanda is one of the lead but I did feel that the fifth book tried too much without acomplishing anything great. While tis book isn't trying to be accomplish anything great for the it did managed to make characters like Ken and Amanda grow a liitle but I do hope the authour would make Martin and Cooper more of a central character next time.Nonetheless this is a great book for the fans of the series and I am glad to say that I haven't given up on the series yet.

Gifted:Now You See It

Hello everybody are you ready for my next post if you are please continue your reading.Once again I read the Gifted series.I've reached book number 5 which is Gifted:Now You See It.It was written by Marilyn Kaye and if I'm not mistaken it was published in 2011.This time the story focuses on Tracey(The one who can be invisible)and Jenna(the one who can read other people's mind)Some of you might have noticed that for every book it will change it leads but one of it leads will always be either Amanda or Jenna.

High and Low
.It finally shows some back story for characters like Martin and Charles
.The story tries to thicken the plot meaning try tomake it more deep, adventurous or thrilling

.The book is once again too short
.Is it me or this may be the most farfetched book of the series

Quick Summary
the students from the Gifted class is getting suspicious about a spy being amongst them since some people know too much information about them.Obviously their first thought is Amanda(Mainly because eventhough she had the perfect oppurtunity to warn Ken about the danger in book 4 she didn't and know she works as a secretary for the principal)but they decided to look up on Charles,Carter and Martin too. While Jenna tried to mind read the principal for any clues but sadly the principal knows how ti mind block her but fearing that he might be careless soon enough he decided to get rid of Jenna by sending her to a rehabilation centre................That's all I guess.

The conclusion
Gifted:Now you see it is probably one of the weakest book of the series. The story did try to make it more interesting but once again the story was simply too short to give a full explanation and that made the story looked a little bit ridiculous.Fortunately the author decided to give a little back story for characters like Martin and Charles who've been largely ignored in the series. The book wasn't that bad but it certainly wasn't great either and one thing I never did quite undersatnd was their accusation towards Amanda I mean Tracey,Jenna and Ken did spend some time with her so wouldn't they know her better.Okay I can understand Ken or Tracey feeling of distrust but Jenna,Imean they were pratically friends in the first book. This series really needs to show something fresh quickly because I generally think that not many people are eagerly waiting for Charles or Martin to become one of the leads.

Rating:7 out of 10

PS:You are probably suprised on why didn't I give it a lower score.I almost decided to give it  a six but since Amanda did appear in this book I decided to be a little bit generous. So if you are Marilyn Kaye and reading this comment right now I do hope that you will make Amanda stand out more in the future books.

Fathomless Fire

You may remember my review for the book Shadow of Malabron last year.I certaily did remeber the book and I always checked the internet to see whether the second book has finally come out. After 4 years since the first book was published the second book has finally come out.Fathomless Fire is a book written by Thomas Wharton and it was finally published in 2012 to my great delight.

The High and Low
.Characters who were only a minor character in the last book becomes more important and likable.

.Most of the main characters in the first book were seriously underplayed
.The story felt less adventurous and the book's ending never reached the satisfying conclusion of the first.

Quick Summary
Will has finally reached home but he felt empty inside and he also felt worried of what was going to happen to his friend in the realm so when one day he received a message saying one of his firends will fall he quickly decided to go to the realm again. Will sneaks out at night and somehow managed to go to realm one again.Rowen is now learning from her grandfather on the art of weaving but learning that is a very dangerous thing indeed because everytime you pull the strings of the stories the shadow king notices you and you might get stuck in the weaving yourself..............................................................That's all I guess

The Conclusion
I have to say that I felt seriously dissapointed by this book. You probably remember on how I praised the epicness of the story, the great characters and it's exceptional ending and as you might have read from The High and Low almost none of the things in this book could have reached the level of the first book.Yes the characters were great not to mention some appealing not so new characters but the authour seriously ignored most of the other main characters from the first book especially Freya. While the story was good it never became what the first one did which was a great children fantasy epic. The ending never did feel as great as the first. The first ending made me feel contented on what happened I don't even have to read the other book since in some way the series could just have ended like that but this book ended in the way of most fantasy series.A cliff hanger ending trying to be dramatic. Don't get me wrong Fathomless Fire is indeed a very nice book but it could have been so much greater.

Gifted:Finders Keepers

Well hello readers I do hope that you're looking forward to this weekend I know I do,I'll explain it next week if all go as plan anyway last week I read the fourth book of the Gifted series by Marilyn Kaye.Like its predecessor it focuses on how other people are trying to take advantage by using one of the students' gifts. It was published in the year 2010.

The High and Low
.Amanda is back as one of the leads
.While the story was not as adventurous as before the story felt more focused

.Once again the book was simply too short
.The story neglected most of the characters

Quick Summary
Ken received his gift when one dya he had an accident where he almost die.Since then he had been able to hear the voice of the dead even his bestfriend's voice too(He died because of the accident)He never really felt that he could control his power. One day he found a mysterious note in his locker inviting him to a seance and so with nothing else to do he went there with Amanda. There he met a kid whose father had just won a lottery but unfortunately died. Now the kid couldn't find the ticket so he went here hoping that the person who run the place could help.Unfortunately her powers was not strong enough so she couldn't call his dad.Meanwhile Amanda who felt sorry for a girl who was at the seance was teleported into her body.Amanda decided to stay in her body for a while...............................................That's all I guess.

The Conclusion
I am glad to say that this book was definitely better than the third book. While the third book tried to make it into more adventurous you just felt like some parts didn't make any sense at all not only that Amanda had less appearance than before/Thank goodness the author made Amanda as one of the leads again.Ken genuinely suprised me as a great lead so in a way both of the great leads managed to save the book from doom but with the cost of sacrificing most of the other character which I thought was a big mistake sine eventually we will read from their point of the story and I'm not actually loving characters like Sarah,Charles or Martin since they are the characters who had the least appearance(I didn't mention Carter since I'm curious on his character even if he had the least appearance)Let's just hope for the future that she makes the characters flesh out more without abondonig Amanda but for now let's us just enjoy this book.

Candor

Hello before I started writing this post I looked at my stats which shows how many people came to my blog and I noticed that this week I had more than 60 people who came to my blog.I know that it isn't what you actuall call much but normally only 50 to 30 people will come to my blog so I'm quite happy even if the number of people is still not that much.I will try to improve this blog as much as I can and I thank you for all the time you spent reading my blog.I read a book called Candor this week because I want to read something that was not very well known so I did some research and found this book while it did have it's own fanbase it wasn't that large so I thought why not.It is a book written by Pam Bachorz and it was published in 2009.

The High and Low
.It definitely had an interesting story.
.The ending was great a little bit predictable but still great on it's own way.

.The characters felt uncovincing and dull.
.The book was simply too short to be reach what it could have been.

Quick summary
Candor is a town that is simply perfect all the kids there are never late, get good grades and are polite to their parents. If  family moves there and there's a rotten kid not to worry one week late he will be the pride of your family and why is that.Oscar Banks the son of town's founder knows exactly why the town is filled with music created by his father to messages in these kids brain so that they will turn over a new leaf.He will fill the kids brain with messages until they becomes "perfect" so Oscar Banks who somehow managed to fight this messages makes business from the "rotten" kids who comes here they pay with anything interesting that they still have and he will find them a way out of this town................................................That's all for the summary

The conclusion
Candor was definitely an intersting book to read the story was told on how Oscar always help kids who have something for him to get out of the town but weirdly he never had the thought for himself. This is probably because he loved his dad even though I never really thought that his dad really loved him. While the story was short and quite simple it definitly a to read on how he tried to fight the messages getting from his head and how he As the story kept going I hoped for the characters to become more interesting but sadly this is not the case most of the characters never felt really convincing on their feeling and by that made them duller. Then I when I reached near the end of the book I were already starting to imagine that I were probably going to give this book a six but then I reached the final two chapters and whilI had in someway pedicted the conclusion it still was a great conclusion to this book. While there was definitely things to improve I felt satisfied that I decided to but this not so underrated book.

City of Ashes

Hello everybody as you may have noticed for my last post some part of it was alittle bit different.I'm trying to make my blog better with giving a better review so you may see some changes on my old post because I'm trying to make them  better. The point of review will still be the same but it will be more detailed.Last week I read the sequel of the Mortal Instruments. It is written by Cassandra Clare and was published in 2008.

The High and Low
.The characters feels more solid this time around
.The story also felt fresher and more exciting

.Yes I didn't like the cover
.While the most of characters becomes more solid some of the characters a re almost transparent

Quick Summary
(I highly recommend to anyone who has not read the first book yet to skip this summary because it contains spoilers)Clary's mom is still in a coma so for the time being she's living with Luke while Jace has been kicked out of the institute be cause Mayse(Alec's and Isabelle's mom)thought that he was a spy for Valentine. With nowhere to go Jace heads out to a bar where most of Luke's pack hangout .He picks a fight with the pack but is quickly stopped by Luke.As Jace explained what happen to him to Luke and Clary,Luke decided to come with Jace tot he institute to convince Maryse of Jace's innocence.Maryse was of course shocked to see her long lost friend who she thought was dead appearing in front of her eyes.Matryse still doesn't believe him so Jace decided to use the sword...............That's it for the summary

The Conclusion
I found the book to be suprising as I merely thought that the predecessor was simply good so I was expecting this book to be moderate but as I read the book I noticed the characters feels more stronger.Jace and Clary becomes a better character in their own way,the story was also more thrilling and exciting something that I felt lackedin the first book.Sadly characters like Isabelle and max was like non-existant.They weren't fleshed out Max didn't appear that much. This book definitely improves on the first book the characters and story are more engaging and it definitely makes me more excited for the third than the first book did with the second.

Gifted:Here Today Gone Tomorrow

I read Gifted book number 3 which is Here Today Gone Tomorrow. The person on the cover is Emily the dreamseer. The story focuses on Emily and Jenna. This book is of course written by Marilyn Kaye and it was published in 2010.Like the first two books the story focuses on how the students try to control their power and keep them away from anyone who's trying to abuse them.

The High and Low
.The story is more engaging than the first two books
.More of the Gifted class are shown

.Amanda isn't one of the leads
.The story feels a little bit stale

Quick Summary
Emily always felt guilty about her father death. The day he died she had a dream but she didn't understand of it then so she said nothing.Even now she feels useless because she can't actually understands her to help anyone. One day she had a dream which one of the gifted students is absent and it came true as the day pass by more and more of the students dissapeared.Until even Emily herself gets kidnapped. The remaining students must rescue their classmate before it's too late because the students are being forced to rob a bank.........................That's it I guess.

The Conclusion
I really liked the first two books in the series and one of the biggest reasons were Amanda and Jenna(Especially Amanda)but sadly I found that Amanda isn't one of the leads this time, she does have a lot of appearence but she is a better character when we actually know what she is thinking. The story is definitely more adventurous than the first two books.Marilyn Kaye knows that if she didn't take the story to another level some readers will feel tired. This time around more of the Gifted student are showed and explored. While the author did managed to take the story into a more engaging field we cant help to feel a little bit tired of the series probably like the first two books it's quite short and sometime that makes a book uneven and a little bit rushed.Don't get me wrong I do recommend you to read this book while waiting for the next installment which will probably have Amanda as one of it's leads.

City Of Bones

Yes dear readers This is the first time I read City of Bones, yes I know the book was published 5 years ago but I never felt any interst to read the book until last week when I saw it in a sale and I said to myself Wynaut(Yes the Pokemon,My little brother made this joke once and asked me to put it in my blog and I said to him Wynaut, enough with the bad puns) This book is written by Cassandra Clare and the first book of the series The Mortal Instruments. It was published in 2007 and receive positive reviews.

The good
.The story was well written and the characters were nice.
.The ending definitely suprised me

The bad
.Didn't like the cover
.Some characters didn't flesh out as much as it could

Quick summary
Clary and her best firend Simon went to club there she saw a couple of people murdering a person when she tries to stop them one of the people explain that the "person" they're trying to kill isn't human but a demon and ask her how in the world could she notice them. When Clary arrived home she has a fight with her mother and she goes outside and decide to hangout with a Simon there she meets Jace(one of the people who killed the demon),he asks her wether she is a Shadowhunter suddenly she receives a phonecall from her mother asking her not to go home................That's it for the summary

The conclusion
When I started to read this book I had a feeling that I was going to enjoy this as much as The Demon's Lexicon series but unfortunately it didn't live to the series.Don't get me wrong the story was well written especially the ending and the characters were nice but the book didn't have what the Demon Lexicon's series had a great story with full of depth and a cast of characters that is full of wittines and charm. The City of Bones is definitely a nice book but if you read the Demon's Lexicon series and hoping this book to be as great I recommend you not have your hope high.

Gifted:Better Late Than Never

Hello Readersthis week I read the second book of the Gifted series. While the first one focuses on Amanda and a little bit on Jenna but for the second book it focuses on Jenna and a little bit on Amanda. It is written by Marilyn Kaye and it was published in 2009.

The good
.Amanda and Jenna are both great leading characters
.The story has more depth this time
.The characters feels more developed

The bad
.Like the first one it is too short
.I really hoped there was more scene with Amanda and Jenna together

Quick summary
Now Amanda is fo6rce to attend the Gifted class but at least she have a chance to date Ken.All goes right until she accidentally feels sorry for Ken and suddenly she finds herself in Ken's body and learns what a nuisance having Ken's Gift which is talking to dead people.Jenna is staying with Tracey for a while because her mother is at rehab and suddenly comes a guy who says that Jenna is his daughter......That's it I guess

The conclusion
Gifted:Better Late Than Never proves to be in its own way to be better tahn the first book In the first book some charcters especially the villian feels aa little bit transparent but in the second book almost all the characters come solidly the story also has more depth when comparing to the first book but it would've been really nice if it was longer and I really hoped Amanda and Jenna did something together in this book they are great characters alone but when being paired up they are absolutely terrific. This book definitely makes me wonder what is in store for the third book.

Gifted:Out of Sight Out of Mind

So it's already been about two years since I started this blog but sadly nobody actually what I'm writing probably I need to spice up the layout anyway This week i read Out of Sight Out of Mind which is written by Marilyn Kaye some of you may know her by her Replica series this is the first book of the series, mthe series will probably have 9 book each focusing on a student.

The good
.A great cast of characters normally I hate reading long series but I definitely wouldn't mind reading thiese to know more about the students.
.The story is not the most original you can find but is definitely a quirky and charming story that can stand up on it's own

The bad
.The story is too short
.The villian felt empty and a little bit unconvincing

The summary
Amanda Beeson is the most popular not to mention the meanest girl in school. She is known as the Queen Of Mean by eevery kids in the school(except for her cliques of course)Actually there is a reason why she acts so mean towards people.Amanda has the power to go into other people's body if she feels sorry for them so she decides that she simply won't care about other people anymore one day at lunch she and her cliques saw Tracey a girl who has nothing special as they thought as Amanda's cliques bullied her she didn't even try to fight back so of course Amanda felt a little sorry for her bam the next morning she was in Tracey's Body but as Amanda tries to get her body backs she learns that Tracey is actually Gifted....that's it I guess.

The conclusion
I don't even know why I decided to buy this book but probably I felt a little tired with the young adult book so for a change so I decided to try a book that I wouldn't probably read just for a change of pace but as i read I found this story to be rather charming and the characters to be sweet in their own way.amanda and Jenna is amazing when being paired up  and I'm not sayng that Amanda should be mean because of her gift but it definitely gives her a great excuse.

Witch Week

Hello everybody this is the last posts for this month which I am focusing on books who were written for younger teens or kids but still can be read by teens or adults and for the final one I'm bringing another of my favourite book by Diana Wynne Jones and it is Witch Week.Actually it is considered as one of the Chrestomanci series but it is more of a side book of the series but nonetheless still very enjoyable.

The good
.The newest edition of it has a really nice cover and of course nice illustration
.A great story filled with smart characters

The bad
.As it got nearer to the ending the story felt a little bit rushed

Quick summary
The story is set in a world quite like ours except where magic is very real but in the story witchcraft is illegal and punishable by death.Larwood School is a boarding school where kids with problems or kids whose parents were a withch that have been excuted will be sent there. One day during class the teacher found a note left by an anonymous student saying that 'SOMEONE IN THIS CLASS IS A WITCH'he quickly round up his student and ask them to confess because this is no joking matter but of course nobody said anything....................That's all I guess

The conclusion
Truthfully speaking Witch week isn't the best book I've read from Diana Wynne Jones and it isn't that adventurous but Witch Week is definitely one of the smartest book I've read from her from the weird but smart characters to the great mystery essenceof the story not to metion the ending(while the story became more rushed near the ending the ending still hbold the book quite tightly)Normally when Diana Wynne Jones write an epic or an adventure story she normally tries a little bit to hard and throws out some of the wittiness of the story so normmally most of her best story is where they don't do anything that grand(The Ogre Downstairs,Witch Week,Charmed Life"Charmed Life only has a subtle adventure feel to it")Witch Week is an amazing book to diana Wynne Jones fans and definitely a great book for any fantasy lover.

Ottoline and the Yellow Cat

Hello everybody let us contnue this month's special which is children books. This week I read Ottoline and the Yellow Cat.it is written and illustrated by Chris Riddell.the book was published in 2007 and received a Nestle Smarties Book Prize award.

The good
.The illustration is great
.The characters are fun and wacky
.The story is definitely creative

the bad
.Too short
.While it is creative to someolder reders it might feel a little too simple

Quick Summary
Ottoline Brown lives with her friend Mr Munroe at the Pepperpot Building in apartment 243.Her parents is always busy visiting other places but they always send Ottoline a postcard(sometimes presents)wherever they go.One they the heard about some burglary happening............................I guss that's it

The conclusion
Ottoline and the yellow Cat is definitelya great book to young readers. It is filled with great illustration and fun characters evn older readers will enjoy the story but sadly the story is preety short and simple i mean almost every page has an illustration so imagine how many spaces can the put the story. Then again this is for youmger readers.

Beyond The Spiderwick Chronicles The Nixie's Song

I'm sorry you might have thought that I were going to review books that I really liked unfortunately I wil be seperated from my books for quite a while so I decided to make this month dedicated for a book aimed for younger reader since last week I did Charmed Life.I read Beyond The Spiderwick Chronicles Book 1 last week it is written by Tony Diterlizzi and Holly Black(yes the author of White Cat).Counting for the whole series it sold more than 6 million copies and it was published in 2007.

The good
.The illustrations are wonderful
.the story is fun and easy to understand you don't have to actually read the first series(I didn't) to enjoy it

The bad
.The characters feels a little one sided(but then again this is only the first book)
.Way to short

Quick summary
Nicholas Vargas's mom died when he was young, when she died evryone in the family stopped bothering each other.Until one day when his father marries a woman called Charlene who has a daughter named Laurie. She was about Nicholas' age and she had this obsession with faeries which of course made Nick to think that Laurie was a nerd who didn't have any friends. When she forced Nick to to go fairy hunting with her he found a four leaf clover. That night when he was looking outside the window he saw a body laying on the lawn.he called laurie to come with him to check it out but when they went out together Laurie couldn't see it.................................that's it I guess

The conclusion
Spiderwick is definitely written for kids but enen older readers can enjoy the wonderful illustartion and the simple storyline. While some characters does feel a little bit one sided(Jules,Laurie,Etc)the characters does have their own charm but the book is really short probably for more money.Anyway there's not much I can actually say about this a book except for i'f you want something a fantasy and an easy read or if you want to read a book to someone Spiderwick is definitely a good choice.

Charmed Life

Hello everybody as you all know this in May and this blog is almost two years old so like last year i'm going to review some of the best book I've read(Just saying sometimes a book can get a 10 from me but that doen'st meant it is perfect book for me sometimes I will look to the character, story, cover and ending so sometimes when I feel for example the ending was a bit dull but the characters in a book so exceptionally it can still get a 10 from me.Anyway this is a book I that had read about a couple years ago.It is written by none other than Diana Wynne Jones(one of the best fantasy author,Just saying)it is the first book of the Chrestomanci series.the book received positive reviews.

 The good
.Excellent Cover(One of the best cover I have ever seen)
.The story is definitely one of Diana's best, filled with absolutely charming characters and with a memorable story.
.Nice illustration

The bad
.To short
.I really hoped the ending eloborated on what will happen more after the ending

. Quick summary Gwendolen is a gifted witch she always things done her way so her brother Cat(Eric) really admires her.One day when they were on a ship the ship sank luckily Gwendolen knew magic so she and Cat(who was holding her tightly)survived.Unfortunately their parents didn't,The mayor decided to let them stay with anyone who might take them in and where they wil feel the most comfortable. They picked a witch named Mrs Sharp they stayed there a while until gwendolen felt bored and sent a letter to Chrestomanci(A powerful Enchanter) after a while Chrestomanci arranged them to stay with him.chrestomanci arranged them to stay with him and have classes with his children but the downpoint is they cannot learn magic to much of Gwendolen complain..............I guess that's it.

The conclusion While most of Diana Wynne Jones' book were aimed for young readers but luckily enven adults will find them enjoyable to read.To me Charmed Life doesn't reach the epic of howl's Moving Castle but Charmed Lifesurely has more depth in the characters. While the story is short it is definitely humourous and memorable everything works except the ending which I felt a bit rushed.Charmed Life may not be a book you might read when you're looking for a great epic fantasy but you should certainly pick this book if you're just looking for a sweet great fantssy novel or perharps if you're trying to find something like Harry Potter.

Starcrossed

Sorry i'm a little bit late for this month posts I had some problem but lickily I managed to sort it out before the end of this month.Anyway two weeks ago I read Starcrossed it is written by Josephine Angelini. It was published in 2011 and receive some posite feedbacks.

The good
.The story was imaginative and feels more mature than I had expected.
.Some characters reminded me of characters that I really liked in other books

The bad
.Some parts of the book really made me hate Helen
.Some parts of the book didn't quite make sense

Quick summary
Helen Hamilton is a girl who lives with her father.Recently she keeps having dreams of three weeping women so of course can't sleep properly.Anyway te new term is about to start and there is news that a rich hot shot family called the Delos were moving here. When she first meet Lucas(One of the Delos)she suddenly feel the urge to kill him,she quickly run in front of him and try to........................that's all I guess

The conclusion
Wile at first I had doubts on the book. The book managed to prove me wrong with its creative story and a it has a more mature tone than I expexted.Luckily some of the characters in the book reminded me of other characters that I liked on other books(except for Helen)Actually she's not that bad but sometimes she really get on my nerves.Anyway I do want to complain on some parts of the story that i felt doesn't actually quite make sense(Then again I am reading a fantasy)but I better not because than this will be a quite long conclusion and they're probably going to be some spoilers.

Hunger Games Movie

I bet probably all of you Hunger games Fans have already watched the movie(I watched in on the 2nd day)so for the fun I'm going to review the mvie instead of a book this week. The Hunger Games is movie directed by Gary Ross.It was released on the 23rd of March.it receive positive reviews with many critics applauding Jennifer Lawrance potrayal as Katniss.

The good
.Most of the cast does a fine job.
.The movie is quite faithful to the book
.

The bad
.The movie may confuses people who didn't read the Hunger games
.Some parts of the book lacks the Wow factor the book had

Quick summary
Every year The capitol will randomly pick a boy and a girl from each district to compete in the Hunger Games where they have to kill each other until there is one. This year Prim was chosen so Katniss volunteers for her instead.Peeta mellark gets chosen for the boy tribut(contestant)....that's all I'm going to say you all probably heard a longer summary elsewhere anyway.

The conclusion
Hunger Games is a really great movie. It is quite faithful to the book.the cast gave a great performance especially Jennir lawrance and Elizabeth Banks but sadly some part lacked like Rue's Death to me the book was sadder because in the book we could feet the bond between Katniss and Rue(eventhough their alliance wasn't very long)but in the movie i couldn't feel it.I would love tgo see more parts when peeta gave Katniss the bread but the movie just showed glimpses of it.Finally for the people who haven't read it yet it might be a little confusing.Who was the girl who keeps runnning away(foxface)the movie only mention the name "Foxface"once, so for some people they might not understand why she did that or this, the watcher might not even know that she is smart(the only hint is she playing a weird game that need fast thinking). The Hunger Games is a great movie while it lacks a wow factor it will definitely please fans and non readers alike if the can get through some confusion that is.

Beyonders:A World Without Heroes

Hello everybody The Hunger Games will be released less in two days and I'm really excited since early reviews are really positive.Anyway last week I read Beyonders:A World Without Heroes by Brandon Mull(the author of Fablehaven)It was published in 2011.

The good
.While the premise of the story isn't that original as you go on in the story some parts definitely will definitely feel more fresh and and original.
.The characters are quite likable.

The bad
.I didn't quite like the cover.
.Lacked some character development.

Quick summary
Jason is just an average teenager who hopes something more out of the ordinary in his life. One day he is transported to another world called Lyrian. He learned that Lyrian is controlled by a powerful wizard named Maldor. He accidentally learns one of the keyword that can destroy Maldor so now Maldor knows of Jason existence and wish to destroy him before he could do so.Jason and Rachel(another person who was transported here)must collect all the keywords if they ever wish to go home. While on their journey they......................That's it I guess.

The conclusion
I for one was quite suprised when I finished the book and found almost nothing that feels childish. When I read Jack Blank and the Imagination I could feel some parts of the book was written for kids but Beyonder suprised me the story still felt for young teens but it had a darker and more satisfying tone so even older teens can enjoy it(Just saying I never had any boundary age for reading I could even read an Enid Blytn if I want to)What Beyonder lacks is on the character development some characters dissapears too fast as they emerge but luckily I liked the characters so in some way it did make up on the lack character development.Beyonders is a book written for young teens but with it slight dark tone evn adult can at least find enjoyment in it.

Your Thought

As everyone know no The Hunger Game's Movie will be shown onn the 23rd of March but before that what's your opinion towards the trailer.Do you think it will fail to capture the essence of the book.Do you think Jennifer Lawrance and Josh Hutcherson will make a good Katniss and Peeta.I do hope that it can measure up to the book. You are welcome to write your thought.

Fowers in the Attic

Last week I read Fowers in the Attic. When I bought it I didn't know kind of story it is I just bought it because of the nice looking cover.(yes I buy books from looking at the cover)The book was written by Virginia Andrews and it was published in 1987.Supposedly it is based on a true story.

The good
.The story is told very nicely
.The cover was very nice
.I were glad on how the story ended

The bad
.The characters weren't likable I hated almost every character in the book.

Quick summary
The Dollanganger children(Chris 14,Cathy 12,Cory and Carrie 5)receive a terrible lost when their father died.Their mother Corrine couldn't afford to live in the house anymore so she decided to ask her mother if she could move in with her children. The grandmother agrees but she asked Corrinne to hide the children in the attic because her husband cannot know she had children with her husband(why will be explained in the book)Corrine asked the kids to stay quietly in the attic until their grand father passes away and she will inherit his fortune but as time pass by....................

The conclusion
When I finished reading Flowers in the Attic I seriously hated almost every characters in the book.Yes Chris and Cathy too.I couldn't entirely blame on what Chris and Cathy did to them since they were locked in the attic without knowing any better(maybe Chris did)but I still hated them for not doing anything but to me the story was nicely told.Sad and depressing but nicely told.I'm not saying that I'm recommending this book to everyone but to anyone who wants something a bit different they're welcome to try Flowers in the Attic.

Pathfinder

Pathfinder is a book written by Orson Scott Card(some of you may know him as the author of The Ender's Game)Truthfully I bought this book for trying to save money I have a limited budget now so I wanted to read something that is worthwhile and when I saw how thick it was I thought I might as well read it(it has about 650 pages). The book was published in 2010 and receive positive reviews.

The good
.It has a great story(well explained story and to me I felt it gave me something original)
.The characters are wonderfully created

The bad
.It is a little confusing for me at first(I mean the book has about 650 of pages so it can seriously turn of some people if the start is confusing for them)
.The ending was too cliffhangery(I don't know even if this a word)for me

Quick summary
Rigg is a boy who lives with his father on the mountains.he has a special ability he can see people's path but strangely his father doesn't have a path.He teaches Rigg evrything on how to speak, hunt, survive, etc. One day he gets impaled by a tree(not a spoiler)he ask Rigg to go to her sister(Param)While crossing a waterfall he tries to save a boy named Kyokay but fails because suddenly the past solidify and one of the path(a man)stops him......... that's all I guess.

The conclusion
Pathfinder is definitely a suprise to me.When I started the story was a little slow and confusing not to mention some characters were a little dull and unfleshed at first but when the story advances The story becomes clearer and the characters becomes more fleshed and likable.I was a bit suprised on the ending I read book with a cliffhanger ending but to me I felt like that the book just stopped from the middle of a chapter and The End.Anyway reader will definitely find Pathfinder as a great and enjoyable book providing that they didn't stop reading around the first 150 pages of course.

The Demon's Surrender

Finally I were able to find this book and boy did it took me a while. Actually I already found this two month ago but I like the cover so I didn't buy it.Anyway everybody this is the third book of the series it is written by Sarah Rees Brennan. It was published in 2011 the series received positive reviews(by yours truly too).

The good
.Sin in her own way is a good protagonist(much better than I expected)
.The story has great plots and twist and a good conclusion to the series while not perfect I still felt contented enough

The bad
.I liked Sin but I hoped Mae appeared more, the first half of the book she didn't have a very big part on the book.
.I don't quite liked the cover.

Quick summary
Sin has now compete for the authority of the market with Mae and of course she doesn't like it.Merris announced that whoever managed to get Celeste's Earring will be the leader.Sin of course feels a little bit disadvantage because Mae has Nick backing her up.When she found her that her sistar is a magician she quickly hides it from the others because fearing that her sister would be banished from the market.................I guess that's it

The conclusion
My first reaction when I knew that Sin was going to be the Protagonist I were absolutely shocked,I mean on the other cover of the was Alan so I expected him or Jamie to be the main character I mean Come on Sin doesnt have that big of a part in the first two book anyway I was quite suprised on how Sin made a good protagonist not as good as Mae but better than expected.Plus with its great story and twist some part of the book I really didn't expect it is a definitely great book but I do want to complain on the cover,I don't understand why she made the cover like that I mean the first two cover were illustration so why must she made third one with a real person.Okay putting my blabbing aside The Demon's Surrender is a great ending to a vey great series.

The Ring of Five

Hello,is everybody having a nice February.Anyway last week I read a book called The Ring of FIve,it is written by Eion McNamee and it was published in 2010.When I first bought the book I actually intended to give it to my little brother's birthday but then I found out he didn't want a book so I just decided to buy something else and make this book mind(I could still have given this book to him even if he doesn't want to but if I do give him I don't think he will read it and I don't see the point of wasting)

The good
.Nicely illustrated cover
.I Loved the story,The story is full of excitement and twist.

The bad
.I felt the story lacks character development

Quik summary
Danny is a boy who has two different colour for his eyes and his ear is a little bit pointy so everybody in his school make fun of him.His mother decided to send him to another school(a boarding school)When he arrives at the boarding he finds himself not in a normal school but in a school for spy who protects the upper world(our world)there he meets Les a messenger(a person with wings)who saves him from.......................That's it I guess.

The conclusion
Boy who goes to a place to realize his true potential type of story isn't that original if you know what I mean(Harry Potter,The Knightley Academy,The Imagination, etc)but each has their own up and down.It has agreat story that I really enjoyed the theme is eho to trust and who will betray so it always keep me gussing but to me The characters lacks development to me it happened to fast.Harry and his friends,Henry and his friends,Jack and his friends. Compared to those three Danny's friendship with his friend feels a bit weak but perhaps that's what being a spy all about.

Memoirs of a Geisha

Last week I read Memoirs of a Geisha, normally I don't read books like The Memoirs of Geisha but after I read The Help I decided to be more open for adult type of novels so every one or two month I will probably read a more adult type of books.Anyway The book was written by Arthur Golden and it was published in 1997,it receive many positive reviews.

The good
.Beautifully written
.It has a great cover
.Pumpkin is totally hilarious

The bad
.As the ending came nearer the story felt weaker

Quick Summary
Chiyo is a girl who lives in the village of Yoroido with her parents and her sister Satsu. When her mother became sick her father sold Chiyo and Satsu so that they may have a more happy life since they couldn't afford anything.Chiyo was sold to the Okiya but Satsu was sold elsewhere because she was not beautiful as Chiyo. There she meets the beautiful but awfully cruel Geisha Hatsumomo.......................................That's all I guess

The Conclusion
Memoirs of a Geisha is a beautifully written book.It has great characters especially pumpkin she was hilarious in a certain chapter but what amazed me the most was it detailed world of the joy and sadness of being a Geisha, sadly after the book came closer to the end it became a little weaker I felt like that the authour rushed to end the book anyway memoirs of a Geisha makes me think that perhaps that being a powerful or beautiful figure is not as great as it seems.Sometimes maybe just being a happy nobody is enough.

The good

.The characters are likable.
.It has a great ending which make me excited for the sequel.

.I hoped there was more villain confrontation.

Prized

Hello everybody,I hoped all of you enjoyed your new year's Holiday because I certainly didn't I was too busy helping around the house I never got the chance to relax but I luckily have enough extra time to read a book.Prized is the second book of the series(Birthmarked is the first) it was written by Caragh O M Brien and was published in 2011.

The good
.Prized has more long term characters than birthmarked.
.I liked the ending.

The bad
.Lack the adventure feeling the first one had.
.Gaia's brothers should have appeared.

Quick summary
Gaia tried to run away from the Enclave but after a while she runs out of energy and collapses and is rescued by Peter and brought to a village. There Gaia found out that her grandmother once was the leader there and the village is controlled by the women since the are the more important gender there. There the Village chief confiscate Gaia's sister from her saying that she doesn't deserve to watch her since sge put her sister in danger..................That's all I'm going to say.

The conclusion
Prized really made my head turned while I loved that the author made more major characters than the first one but I was really dissapointed by on how the author didn't make any of Gaia's brother to appear in the book and it also lacks the adventure feeling I felt in the first book but I did appreciate on how she made Gaia seemed more mature than the first book anyway I will say it is aworth read to anyone who loved the first book because I certainly did.
