Witch Finder

I bet that you have tried reading the title a couple of time. Not that I ould blame you I haven't written a book review in ages (About 6 Months to be exact) and as you know I've been terribly busy with work and eventhough I had promised to write my book review again and again I never did. Since the next chapter of my book is only going to come out next month, I felt that I owed you guys something so here we are. Actually I finished reading this book for quite some time but only know I managed to make a review for it.
Witch Finder is a book written by Ruth Warburton, it is the first book of the Witch Finder series and it was published in 2014.

The High and Low
.I loved the cover and the illustration
.It had a nice setting
.I found Luke refreshing

.It never did quite live up to its premise
.I felt that most of the characters to be somewhat bland

Quick Summary
Lucas had always dreamed of avenging his parents by hunting down the witch that killed them and he was finally going to have a chance to fulfill that dream by joining Malleus Maleficorum, a group dedicated to hunting and killing witches. Before he could join he needed to complete the rite passage, he managed to complete the first two easily but for the last one he needed to kill his first witch. Luke picked a random witch from their book and was givenn a month to fulfill the deed or find himself being killed.

Rosa is a young powerful witch, sadly, since her father died( the only one she considered to be her family, other than her horse) they have been living in what I call rich man's poverty. Her mother and brother forces her to marry Sebastian, her brother's best friend and also the son of one of the most important figure in the witch world. As expected Rosa doesn't want to marry him (who could blame her, he literally beat a dog to death) but have no other choice since it is the only way to elevate her family once again............................That's it I guess.

The Conclusion
To be frank with all of you, I know I'm not a good book book critic. I try to look sophisticated in my book review but obviously failed but I do realize that I am getting better. Especially since I have started written my own story. Witch Finder had a really interesting premise, I mean Luke had the power to see witches and apparentally Rosa is a very powerful witch but I felt the author didn't use their skill to their full extent. Luke did use his power but Rosa barely used her magic and if she did it was mostly simple spells. As usual, I will give one thums up on books that have a Nice cover or Illustration. Luckily, this book had both of them. The illustrations are mostly drawing of items like hammer, ring, needle, etc but I felt that it added a certain charm, as for the cover long time readers should know that I don't particularly like cover with real people on it. Fortunately the cover did not grace us the face of the person who was meant to be Rosa, and they also put some nice illustration around her. While I found most of the characters to be balnd to my liking, I adored Luke. I found him a little bit refresing to most guys on the young adult category. I found him relatable and I also liked that he acted his age. Some characters usually acted to old or was simply to immature for their age but I found him to be just right. To me the author managed to create him with a certain edge but managed to give him the youth he rightfully owned. To put it blankly, Witch Finder isn't particularly great but it isn't particularly bad either so I guess it's up to all of you if you just want to write a decent book.
